Redefining the Impossible

WoW News Issue 229

A quick catchup.

Maezyn

Visited hunter trainer at 62 and discovered I had neglected to visit since level 58. Many upgrades and 62 yielded steady shot. With a shot rotation that includes Steady Shot she can kill very quickly but runs out of mana equally quickly.

My comments about beastmaster vs marksman in the last post proved wrong: marksman pet needs hefty healing.

In summary, battles are over quickly but pet healing and mana drinks make up for that.

Maexyn

Maevyn and Maesyn sent her all their herbs stocks and she is now a 285 alchemist. I decided that levelling tailoring just for the high level BoP's wasn't worth it. All the decent leatherworking plans seem to come from instances and I doubt tailoring is any different. Maexyn will never raid and is my only clothie so not much point in levelling tailoring. Still need to get alchemy to 350 to start lucrative transmuting and she can't improve alchemy skill till level 50 so that can wait for a bit.

She is now level 47. At 46 she could kill level 47-49 water elementals and zapped giants in Feralas effortlessly. 30 seconds to kill a 49! I was happy when pook could kill something three levels higher in less than two minutes.

Maesyn

Went kinda crazy and levelled her six levels to 38. She's no longer the baby! I am addicted to stealthing up behind mobs, Pouncing and shredding. She can grind for hours with no mana breaks, rarely needs bandaging and never needs a food stop yet can still kill things in 20 seconds. Still very weak against multiple mobs and casters: caster camps are as difficult as for a paladin.

Druid play is more challenging than hunter/warlock but stabbing things in the back gives uneasy satisfaction.

Hi Peter,

I thought you must have given it away again. LOL!

I now have my lock Baltic half way to 69 and wandering around Blades Edge. Just before hitting 68 I managed to solo the banner planting quest at the top of the tower in Bloodmaul. It suggests 3 people for this quest. I was life tapping and bandaging and potting but made it through. Locks are OP!!

I have been struggling a little working out the right gear for him. He is deep afflicion so I have been stacking spell damage pretty much to the neglect of any other stat. He has the Netherweave set and I swap around items for the set bonus to further improve as I can. Tailoring is close to 375 and I can get him there while making the frozen Shadow Weave set. Unsure about doing this. As my guild is now farming Kara, Grull, Mags and progressing through SSC, I will be able to take him pretty much straight into Kara and probably pick up T4 gear pretty easy. I wonder if the epioc tailoring set will last very long.

Very tempted to take up Alchemy as pots for raiding are very expensive. Would also mean picking up herbing and levelling both together. Probably a bit of a grind but considering I spend at least 100g on pots for a progression raid it may well be worth it.

Kolan has not had an upgrade since picking up the Dragonspine Trophy from Grull a few weeks ago. I finally completed the trials so the next Mags kill will ge me the "Champion of the Naru" title and a nice ring. Still hanging out for the T5 gear and the huge 2 piece bonus for BM hunters. I'll never have to heal the pet again. smile

Cheers

Peter

I haven't bothered that much in gearing Maexyn but I normally pick up +spelldamage gear (follow link to pathetic armory page). Her stamina seems ok, she can enter a fight on 50% after a couple of mana taps and still live. Gearing through the AH is tough as there are no bargains: +stamina/intellect greens start at 10g, only the +spirit crap is cheap.

I have been wondering about demonology recently, specifically whether it is as boring as affliction can be (dot dot dot mana mana drain life drain life drain soul repeat). It's the wait for the global cooldowns between each one that gets to me, it makes it feel like walking through treacle, plod plod plod.

Then again, once in outlands aren't there lots of demons to enslave? haven't tried that yet. I could practise on the Hellboars in Blasted Lands although I'm going to try to skip those boring animal part quests this time around, even if it means extra grinding in Searing Gorge.

Must try howl of terror in the cauldron, see how many dark iron dwarves I can agro. Soulstone ftw.

Maexyn is powerful but cat druid is prob more fun, even with the caster woes.
